Solar Panel Installers in London
MCS-certified, London-based, and trusted by 300+ homeowners. Solar PV, battery storage and retrofits, designed around your roof rather than a package.
Solar Panels London is a solar installation company based in the capital. We survey, design, install and look after solar panel systems across every London borough and the surrounding counties. Our engineers work on London roofs every week, from Victorian terraces and 1930s semis to flat-roofed extensions and new builds, so the system you get is designed for the house you actually live in.
Every job starts with a free home survey and ends with an MCS certificate, registered warranties and a team you can call. No packages, no inflated savings figures, no pressure.
Why choose a London solar company
National installers send a surveyor from one place, a subcontract crew from another, and an aftercare line from a third. We are one London team, and that changes the job in three ways.
Local knowledge
We know London roofs
Slate on a Victorian terrace, concrete tile on a 1930s semi, a felt or single-ply flat roof on an extension, a mansard in a conservation area. Each needs a different mounting system, a different scaffold plan and sometimes a council permit. We have done them all, repeatedly.
One team
Surveyed, installed and looked after by the same company
Our MCS-certified installation team works under our own technical supervision. The design you are quoted is the design that gets installed, and the business that installed it is the one that answers the phone afterwards.
Aftercare
Aftercare from a team based in London
Inverters fail, pigeons nest, apps stop updating. When something needs attention we come out, and we service and repair systems installed by other companies as well as our own.

How a solar installation with us works
From first call to switch-on, this is the process. A straightforward installation can go from survey to a working system in as little as two weeks. Scaffolding, network operator approval and any roof work can add time, and we tell you the timeline at the survey.
Tell us about your home
Request a callback or call us. We ask a few questions about your roof, your electricity use and what you want solar to do for you.
Free home survey
A surveyor visits, checks the roof, loft, consumer unit and the space for a battery, and talks through the options. No charge, no obligation.
Written quotation
You receive a quotation designed for your house: panel layout, system size, estimated generation and everything that is included. One total price, in writing.
Approvals and scaffolding
We handle the DNO notification or application, arrange scaffolding where the roof needs it, and agree the installation date with you.
Installation
Our team installs the panels, inverter and any battery, usually in one to two days, and leaves the house as they found it.
Handover and aftercare
You get your MCS certificate, warranties registered, the monitoring app set up, and a team that services and repairs what it fits.

Every system is designed for the house, not sold from a price list
We do not sell fixed packages. A south-facing semi with a big loft and an EV on the drive needs a different system from a north-south terrace with a flat-roofed extension and two people at home all day. The survey tells us which panels fit, how many, which inverter suits the array, whether a battery pays its way, and where it can safely go.
Your quotation lists everything that is included and gives one total price. Where scaffolding is needed, as it is on most London houses, it is in the quote. Generation estimates come from the MCS calculation method for your roof’s orientation and shading, not from a best-case figure.
Curious what difference roof orientation makes? Our guide to panel position explains it.
Installing solar in London: the things that trip people up
London has a few quirks that a good local installer handles for you. These are the ones that come up most.
Planning and conservation areas
Most London homes qualify for permitted development. Listed buildings, some conservation areas and flats are the exceptions. We check before you commit. See our guide to planning permission for solar in London.
Network approval (DNO)
London’s electricity network is run by UK Power Networks. Smaller systems are notified after installation; larger ones need an application first. We handle both and explain how DNO limits affect system size.
Scaffolding and street licences
Terraces with no side access need scaffolding on the pavement, and that usually means a licence from the borough. We arrange the scaffold and the licence so you do not have to.
Flat roofs and limited space
Flat-roof extensions are often the best solar real estate on a London house. We use mounting systems designed for flat roofs and position the array to avoid parapets and shading from neighbouring buildings.

Solar panel installers for every London borough

Frequently asked questions
Are you MCS-certified solar panel installers?
Yes. Solar Panels London is MCS-certified for solar PV and battery storage, and every installation is registered and certificated. MCS certification is what your energy supplier needs to see before paying you for exported electricity under the Smart Export Guarantee.
Do you use your own installers or subcontractors?
Installations are carried out by our own London-based team under our MCS technical supervision. The person who surveys your home is the person who designs your system, and the same business is responsible for the installation and the aftercare.
How do I get a quote for solar panels in London?
Request a free home survey. We visit, check the roof, loft, consumer unit and where the equipment would go, and talk through how you use electricity. You then receive a written quotation designed for your house. We do not sell fixed packages, because no two London roofs are the same.
Do I need planning permission for solar panels in London?
Most houses in London can have solar panels installed under permitted development, so no planning application is needed. The exceptions are listed buildings, some conservation areas and flats. We check this for you at survey and tell you before you commit to anything.
How long does a solar panel installation take?
Most domestic installations are completed in one to two days once scaffolding is up. Where the system needs approval from the electricity network operator before installation (a G99 application), that approval is usually the longest part of the timeline, and we tell you the expected dates at quote stage.
Can you install solar panels on a flat roof or a terraced house?
Yes. A large share of our work is on London terraces, flat-roofed extensions and semis with limited roof space. Flat roofs use a ballasted or fixed mounting system; terraces usually need scaffolding on the street side, which we arrange, and sometimes a council licence, which we handle.
What guarantee do I get?
Our workmanship is covered by a 6-year guarantee, insurance-backed through IWA, alongside the manufacturer warranties on the panels, inverter and battery. We service and repair what we install, so if anything needs attention you deal with the company that fitted it.
Is there still 0% VAT on solar panels?
Yes. The installation of solar panels and battery storage in a home in Great Britain is zero-rated for VAT until 31 March 2027. It applies to the installed system, so labour as well as equipment. We will update this page if the government changes the date.
